Internal hardware is hardware that is installed within a machine or is hardware that is installed within the computer. When referring to a drive, an internal drive is any disk that is stored within the computer. The internal hardware components are:

External hardware is a piece of hardware inserted outside of the computer A printer, for example, is an external device since it connects to the back of the computer and is located outside the casing. Other examples are:

- Joystick
- Keyboard
- Mouse
